Dinner For Ten

If I made a list of the top ten people, living or dead, I'd like to throw a dinner party for, it might look a little something like this:

Guest List:

1. Anna Faris
2. Marie Dressler
3. Katharine Hepburn
4. Isla Fischer/Amy Poehler/Amy Adams (tie)
5. Barbara Stanwyck
6. Amy Sedaris
7. Mabel Normand
8. Betty White
9. Carole Lombard
10. Dolly Parton

Menu: Take out. It's too hot to cook.

I've just realized there are no men on the menu, er, guest list. So I'll also add:

John Barrymore
Peter Lorre
James Cagney
Clive Owen

Please seat beside anyone but Betty White. She's always making unwanted overtures to me in my fantasy life. Okay, so they're not so unwanted but I pretend in said fantasy life that they are.

Betty White! What a great pick, she's wonderful. I first met her when I was a kid watching "Golden Girls," which I also think is a bit of an underrated show. She's so cute and pleasant and hilarious ALL THE TIME.

Can I come on the night when you have her and Amy Sedaris? Are double-dinner dates allowed?

Yeah Barbara Stanwyck and Betty White are cool, but Dolly! Oh, Dolly!

Double dinner dates are allowed.

Being cute and/or pleasant and/or hilarious all the time is a prerequisite for being invited. Failing that, I'll allow delightfully saucy, or very arch in an Old Saybrook kind of way.

Seating is strictly based on uncontrollable crushes, which means Clive Owen sits between me and Bob.

So Mike, you'll either have to give in to your abiding lust for Betty White or refrain from showing up. Or I could do you a solid just this once and seat you between Katharine Hepburn and Marie Dressler.

Oh Maggie, I know. Isn't Dolly divine? God, I love her.

Pam, Estelle Getty died today :(
I need to have a GG marathon right now. It's only underrated by those who have NO SOUL.

Oh, no! This is such sad news! Sophia is SO FUNNY. Oh, no. V. Sad.
I wish I could be there for the GG marathon. I can't tell you how much I love the GG theme song too...!

I would love to have dinner with several of your list choices, especially Mabel Normand.

I am hoping to write about her later this year. She was such a brilliant and undervalued actor/comedian.
